1. Eligibility and Participation

  • Open to Postgraduates Residents / Senior Resident / Junior faculty in Emergency Medicine
  • Individual participation.
  • Prior registration for the conference and for the competition is mandatory.

2. Article Selection

  • The organizing committee will assign the article – 15th October 2025
  • The article will be:
    • Recent (published within the last 1–2 years).
    • Relevant to Emergency Medicine practice.
    • High-impact (preferably from indexed journals).

3. Presentation Format

  • Time limit: 07 min Article Presentation + 10 min Critical appraisal + 5 min Q&A.
  • Presentation must include:
    1. Background and clinical relevance
    2. Study objectives
    3. Methodology (study design, inclusion/exclusion criteria, bias control)
    4. Results and statistical interpretation
    5. Critical appraisal (strengths, limitations, level of evidence)
    6. Judgement on Relevance of the Article (will it affect your clinical practice?)
    7. Take-home message for Emergency Medicine practice
  • Use of PowerPoint slides mandatory.
  • Strict adherence to allotted time; exceeding time may lead to score deduction.

4. Judging Criteria

  • Critical appraisal skills – 40%
  • Presentation Skills (clarity and structure)- 40%
  • Response to judges’ questions – 20%

5. General Rules

  • The last date for enrolment for the competition is 12th October 2025.
  • Plagiarism or copying slides directly from the article will lead to disqualification.
  • Proper referencing and citations must be included for any external source used.
  • The presenter must disclose conflicts of interest (if any).
  • Decision of the judges is final and binding.
  • Certificates will be given to all the participants.
  • Prizes will be awarded to best presenters.

6. Technical Guidelines

  • Presentations must be submitted in PPT/PPTX format on or before 30th October 5 pm on the portal for Appraisal Gauntlet presentation on www.emcon.in
