PREM Pediatric Resuscitation Emergency Medicine

Sessions

Pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) is a vital subspecialty that focuses on the care of critically ill or injured children in an emergency department setting. The importance of learning PEM cannot be overstated, as children are not simply small adults; they have unique physiological responses to illness and injury, requiring specialized knowledge and skills for appropriate management.

Mastery of pediatric emergency care ensures that healthcare providers can rapidly assess and manage pediatric cases with age-appropriate techniques and interventions, which is crucial given that life-threatening situations requiring resuscitation in pediatric populations are rare, and retention of knowledge and skills is essential for effective intervention.
